The pivotal turnaround came after the break. Luis Díaz, making his debut for Bayern after signing from Liverpool, injected pace and creativity from the bench. Within minutes, he earned a penalty that Michael Olise converted, giving Bayern the lead. Olise struck again shortly afterward with a composed finish to double the advantage.
Despite Bayern's dominance, Lyon remained in the hunt and scored a late goal courtesy of Gomes. Nonetheless, the visitors couldn’t find an equalizer, and Bayern held on for the win.
