Jack Grealish has officially joined Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City, with the deal including a potential £50 million buy clause. While Everton declined to cover his full £300,000-per-week wage, the club is shouldering around three-quarters of his salary. The move, confirmed on 12 August 2025, is seen as an opportunity for the 29-year-old to revive his form and push for a place in England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Everton manager David Moyes described the signing as a statement for both the player and the club, insisting Grealish’s experience and ambition can help transform the team. He praised the midfielder’s determination, noting Grealish’s desire to “fight back and show everybody” after struggling for game time at City.

Grealish made his Everton debut on 18 August 2025, coming on as a 71st-minute substitute against newly promoted Leeds United. The match ended in a 1–0 defeat after a controversial penalty was awarded against James Tarkowski for handball, which Lukas Nmecha converted just minutes after coming on. Moyes was furious with the decision, arguing Tarkowski’s arm was not in an unnatural position and joking that “he’d have to chop his arm off” to avoid the call.
Although Grealish’s impact on the game was limited, Everton showed some improvement following his introduction. However, his arrival was met with boos from sections of the crowd, highlighting the pressure he faces to perform.
Looking ahead, Grealish’s role at Everton will be central to Moyes’ plans, with the manager keen to use his versatility either as a traditional No.10 or out wide. With Everton’s first home match at their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium approaching, all eyes will be on how quickly Grealish can adapt, build chemistry with his teammates, and deliver the performances that once made him one of the Premier League’s most exciting talents.
