Kai Havertz Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery, Arsenal Expect Quick Recovery

Kai Havertz has undergone what Arsenal have described as a successful minor surgical procedure on his knee following the injury he sustained during the season opener against Manchester United on 17 August 2025. The club confirmed that he will shortly begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with everyone fully focused on helping him return to full fitness as soon as possible .
This represents Havertz’s second operation in just six months, the first being a hamstring procedure earlier this year . Despite the inevitable absence, Arsenal believe his time on the sidelines will be measured in weeks rather than months, indicating a comparatively short recovery ahead .

In the meantime, the club’s attacking options will be significantly reshaped. Viktor Gyökeres, the summer arrival from Sporting Lisbon, is now the only fit recognised striker available for the upcoming Premier League fixtures, including mouth-watering clashes against Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle, as well as the commencement of Arsenal’s Champions League campaign .

Arsenal have responded decisively by strengthening their squad further. The acquisition of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace provides valuable attacking reinforcements, with the promising midfielder poised to make an impact early in the campaign . The depth has also been tested as Mikel Arteta considers deploying Mikel Merino and Leandro Trossard in central roles to adapt to the current injury crisis .

This unfortunate setback for Havertz is further compounded by other injury concerns within the squad. Gabriel Jesus remains out until late 2025 after an ACL operation, Bukayo Saka is sidelined with a hamstring issue, and Martin Ødegaard is doubtful due to a shoulder problem sustained recently .

All eyes are now on Havertz’s rehabilitation timeline. With the operation confirmed to be minor and a return anticipated in the next few weeks, the club remain optimistic about his contribution in the weeks ahead, provided his recovery proceeds smoothly .
