Liverpool Hails Rio Ngumoha as “Agba Baller” in Yoruba Celebration
Liverpool’s teenage sensation, Rio Ngumoha, earned the affectionate title “Agba Baller”—a playful Yoruba expression meaning “great baller”—after his breathtaking performance on Monday night.
At just 16 years and 361 days old, Ngumoha marked his Premier League debut with a dramatic 100th-minute winner in Liverpool’s 3-2 triumph over Newcastle United . Coming off the bench in stoppage time, he unleashed a ferocious left-footed strike that sealed a remarkable comeback victory for the champions .
By finding the net in such a sensational fashion, Ngumoha became Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer, surpassing the previous record held by Ben Woodburn . His goal also made him the second 16-year-old in Premier League history to score a match-winner, following Wayne Rooney’s achievement in 2002 .
