O’Reilly, who captained City’s Under‑18 squad before earning a place in the senior setup, made an immediate impact—scoring on his senior debut in the Community Shield victory over Manchester United, and netting his first professional goal just days later against Barcelona during pre‑season in the United States. He went on to appear in 21 senior matches, tallying five goals, including a pivotal brace against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup fifth round, and contributing to Manchester City’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign.
The number 33 shirt carries a rich legacy at the Etihad Stadium, previously worn by club legends such as Vincent Kompany, Gabriel Jesus, Matija Nastasić, as well as goalkeepers Scott Carson and Kasper Schmeichel.
In addition to the shirt number update, O’Reilly has reportedly signed a new long-term contract with Manchester City. The club is said to have turned down multiple bids for his services, including two from Bayer Leverkusen and approaches from other Premier League sides.
