Rúben Amorim has firmly stated that Manchester United will not allow Kobbie Mainoo to depart this summer, emphasizing the club’s desire for the young midfielder to remain and compete for his place in the team.
Amorim underlined his position during a press conference, declaring, “I want Kobbie to stay. He needs to fight for his place, and we need Kobbie. So that is not going to change.” These remarks confirm that Manchester United has blocked Mainoo’s request for a loan move, insisting that he remains integral to the squad’s plans .
The 20-year-old, who has featured prominently in international youth levels and for England’s senior side, has seen limited minutes in the early stages of the 2025–26 season under Amorim’s management. While he started in the Carabao Cup against Grimsby Town, he has yet to appear in Premier League fixtures and has even missed out on recent international squad selections .
Amorim acknowledged that players who aren’t featuring regularly may feel disappointed, but stressed that opportunities will still arise. “Everyone will have the same opportunity to play,” he affirmed. “You have to fight during the week” .
Manchester United will hope to bounce back from disappointing defeat against Arsenal and draw last week against Fulham when they host Burnley.
