Bukayo Saka Sidelined for Four Weeks with Hamstring Injury
Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka is set to miss up to four weeks of action following a hamstring injury sustained during the club’s emphatic 5–0 victory over Leeds United on August 23. The 23-year-old was substituted in the 53rd minute after experiencing discomfort while sprinting, prompting immediate concern from manager Mikel Arteta.
Medical assessments have since confirmed that the injury affects the opposite leg to the one that sidelined Saka for three months last season, offering some relief to the club and supporters. Despite the setback, Arsenal are well-equipped to manage his absence, with attacking options including Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and promising youngster Max Dowman.
Saka is expected to miss several key fixtures, including Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Liverpool on August 31, the home match against Nottingham Forest on September 13, and potentially the high-profile encounter with Manchester City on September 21. He will also be unavailable for England’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.
Arteta acknowledged the significance of the injury, stating, “Bukayo felt something while carrying the ball. It’s not the same hamstring as last season, but for him to come off, it’s significant”.
