Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles endured a crushing 4–0 loss to Sudan in their second Group D fixture of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), held at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on August 12, 2025.
Sudan dominated the match from start to finish, showcasing tactical discipline and clinical finishing. The goals came from Mohamed Abdelrahman in the 12th minute, Waleed Bakhet in the 28th, Salaheldin Mahmoud in the 63rd, and Abdel Raouf Yagoub in the 78th. Nigeria struggled to contain Sudan’s attacking threats and failed to convert their few chances.
With this result, Sudan climbs to four points, boosting their chances of progressing to the knockout stage. Nigeria, meanwhile, remains at the bottom of the group with zero points, having lost their opener to Senegal 1–0.
Coach Éric Chelle now faces mounting pressure as Nigeria prepares for a must-win final group match against Congo. Anything less than victory will see the Super Eagles B exit the tournament at the group stage.
