AC Milan has officially withdrawn from its proposed deal to sign Nigerian striker Victor Boniface after the player failed to pass mandatory medical tests in Milan. The transfer, which had reached an advanced stage with a verbal agreement for a €5 million loan and a €24 million purchase clause, was abruptly terminated after club doctors raised concerns over Boniface’s right knee.
The 24-year-old Bayer Leverkusen forward underwent multiple medical evaluations at La Madonnina Clinic and Galeazzi Hospital over the weekend. Despite his impressive form in the Bundesliga, lingering issues from previous cruciate ligament injuries and recurring muscle problems prompted Milan to reconsider the move.
Boniface has since returned to Germany and will rejoin Bayer Leverkusen, where he faces stiff competition for a starting role. Meanwhile, AC Milan is expected to explore alternative options to strengthen its attacking lineup ahead of the new season.
