FC Bayern Munich has secured the services of striker Nicolas Jackson on a season-long loan from Chelsea, marking one of the most impactful deadline-day moves of the 2025 transfer window. The deal includes a substantial loan fee of approximately €16.4 million, with a conditional obligation to buy for €65 million, activated if Jackson meets certain appearance-related criteria.
The transfer saga unfolded dramatically. Jackson, already in Munich to complete medical tests, saw the agreement collapse on Saturday when Chelsea’s striker Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury. Chelsea initially recalled Jackson, citing the need to bolster their attacking options amid squad uncertainty. However, determined to finalize the move, Jackson’s representatives and Bayern reignited negotiations, culminating in the agreement just before the window closed.

Under the agreed terms, the loan fee was slightly increased to €16.5 million in some reports, but consensus places it around €16.4 million. If Jackson reaches the stipulated number of appearances during the 2025–26 season, Bayern are obligated to make the transfer permanent, triggering a €65 million final payment.

Upon the announcement, Bayern’s sporting authorities lauded Jackson’s signing. Board member Max Eberl emphasized his dynamism, top-level experience, and goal threat, while sporting director Christoph Freund highlighted his pace, movement, and ability to break defensive lines.

Nicolas Jackson expressed excitement at joining Bayern, acknowledging the club’s illustrious history and legacy of success, and pledging to contribute fully toward their ambitions. He is set to don the No. 11 jersey for the season.
