Liverpool endured a disappointing night in the UEFA Champions League as they fell to a 1–0 defeat against Galatasaray at Rams Park in Istanbul.
The decisive moment came in the 16th minute when Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen converted a penalty, awarded after Baris Alper Yilmaz was fouled in the box by Dominik Szoboszlai. Osimhen made no mistake from the spot, firing past Alisson to give the Turkish side an early lead.
Despite dominating possession with 62%, Liverpool struggled to break down Galatasaray’s resolute defense. Manager Arne Slot introduced star players Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak in the second half in a bid to spark a comeback, but the changes failed to alter the course of the match.
The Reds had several chances, including a late corner and a long-range effort from Alexis Mac Allister, but none found the target. Galatasaray held firm, securing a famous victory and handing Liverpool their second consecutive defeat following their weekend loss to Crystal Palace.
