Enzo Maresca Confirms Injury Blow to Andrey Santos

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed that midfielder Andrey Santos will be sidelined until after the upcoming international break due to injury. The Brazilian, who was expected to play an important role this season, was a surprise omission from the squad in midweek.  

The setback came on the same night Chelsea secured a 1–0 victory over Benfica in the UEFA Champions League. The decisive goal was scored by Raheem Sterling, whose clinical finish ensured the Blues claimed all three points and strengthened their position in the group stage.  

Speaking after the match, Maresca addressed Santos’ absence:  

 “Andrey Santos has suffered an injury and will be out until the end of the international break,” he said.  

The 20-year-old midfielder now joins a growing list of Chelsea players unavailable through injury, further complicating Maresca’s squad rotation ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.
