Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in the 24th minute, netting his first goal for the club. Casemiro doubled the lead with a deflected strike in the 34th minute. Bryan Mbeumo extended the advantage to 3–0 in the 61st minute. Danny Welbeck pulled one back for Brighton with a free-kick in the 74th minute, and Charalampos Kostoulas narrowed the gap further with a header in stoppage time. Mbeumo sealed the win with his second goal deep into stoppage time.
