Nigerian-born defender Michael Olabode Kayode was superb in the Brentford backline and was awarded Man of the Match in their 3–2 victory over Liverpool.
Brentford raced into an early lead in the 5th minute: Kayode unleashed one of his trademark long throws, Kristoffer Ajer nodded it on, and Dango Ouattara volleyed in to give the hosts the advantage.

Just before half time, Kevin Schade doubled Brentford’s lead via a composed finish, following a threading pass from Mikkel Damsgaard.

In injury time of the first half, Milos Kerkez pulled one back for Liverpool from a low cross by Conor Bradley, finishing from close range.

Early in the second half, Igor Thiago converted a penalty—after a VAR check confirmed a foul by Virgil van Dijk on Ouattara—to restore Brentford’s two-goal cushion.
Liverpool pressed for a response, and in the 89th minute Mohamed Salah produced a fine volley to make it 3–2, but Brentford held on through extended stoppage time to seal the win.

The full lineup for Brentford included Kayode, who played a pivotal role not just defensively but in initiating attacks via his long throws.
