Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso addressed the visible frustration displayed by forward Vinícius Júnior after the player was substituted during today's El Clásico, which saw Real Madrid defeat Barcelona 2−1.
The victory was secured through first-half goals from Kylian Mbappé (22') and Jude Bellingham (43'), with Vinícius Júnior credited with the secondary assist on the winning goal. Barcelona’s sole strike came from Fermín López (38').
The incident in question occurred in the 72nd minute when Vinícius Júnior was replaced by his compatriot, Rodrygo, and reacted by walking directly down the tunnel, bypassing the technical area.
When questioned about the player's reaction, Alonso chose to initially emphasize the significant team victory and the Brazilian’s positive contribution to the match.
“Let me focus on beautiful things, good things. We did great and Vini was a big part of it; he did very well,” Alonso stated.
The coach confirmed that while the matter would be addressed, it would be handled behind closed doors. “We will talk about his reaction, for sure we will... we will do it in private. Now I want to focus on good things,” he concluded.
