Nigerian comedian I Go Save, whose real name is Otaghware Otasowie, has publicly condemned fellow countrymen for celebrating the cancellation of Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy's U.S. tour dates, attributing the backlash to a recent onstage altercation with a female concertgoer.
The controversy erupted on November 12, 2025, during Burna Boy's performance at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, as part of his "No Sign of Weakness" tour. Viral footage captured the Grammy-winning artist halting the show to confront a front-row attendee who appeared to be asleep. Addressing the audience, Burna Boy—real name Damini Ogulu—insisted on her removal, declaring, "Bro, I'm not doing no more songs until you take her home," before resuming only after her boyfriend escorted her out. The incident, which later revealed the woman was grieving a recent personal loss, drew widespread condemnation for its perceived insensitivity and arrogance.
In the ensuing days, Burna Boy doubled down on social media, responding to critics with a now-infamous retort: "Did I tell you to be my fan?" He further clarified during an Instagram Live session that he sought only "rich fans" who appreciated his performances, intensifying the uproar. International figures, including rapper Eminem, weighed in, with Eminem calling the behavior "not cool," while low ticket sales and public outcry reportedly contributed to the axing of at least two key dates: November 28 in Minneapolis and December 1 in Chicago.
Amid the fallout, some Nigerians took to social media to mock the cancellations, viewing them as karmic retribution for Burna Boy's conduct. I Go Save, however, decried this schadenfreude in a pointed online statement, labeling it "witchcraft." He wrote: "Celebrating a man's source of daily bread cancellation is witchcraft." The comedian, known for his satirical takes on Nigerian society, emphasized solidarity over division, arguing that undermining a compatriots' success—especially one elevating African music globally—reflects poorly on the nation's collective spirit.
Burna Boy has since issued a partial apology via Instagram, acknowledging the cancellations without directly linking them to the backlash, and the remainder of his tour proceeds as scheduled.
