Senator Ned Nwoko Refutes Underage Marriage Allegations, Presents Regina Daniels’ Voter’s Card as Proof
Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has firmly denied claims that he married Nollywood actress Regina Daniels when she was underage. The lawmaker described the allegations as false, misleading, and malicious, emphasizing that verifiable records confirm Daniels was 21 years old at the time of their marriage.
In a statement released through his official channels, Nwoko explained that during his first meeting with Daniels, he inquired about her age. She reportedly told him she was 21 and presented her Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter’s card, which shows her date of birth as October 10, 1998.
“During my first meeting with Regina, I asked her age, and she told me she was 21. She presented her INEC voter’s card, which confirmed her birth date. I have kept that document in my possession since then,” Nwoko stated.
The senator further clarified that their marriage took place six years ago, meaning Daniels is now 27 years old. He stressed that any suggestion he married her at 17 is unfounded and should be disregarded by the public.
Nwoko also referenced interviews granted by Regina Daniels’ mother at the time of the marriage, which corroborated her age. He accused those spreading the underage marriage narrative of attempting to tarnish his reputation amid ongoing disputes.
