Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has confirmed that all outstanding financial matters with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have been resolved, allowing the team to refocus on their upcoming fixtures.

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has announced that the issue of unpaid allowances previously affecting the national team has been fully resolved. The confirmation follows a brief training boycott by the players, who were protesting outstanding payments related to their qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup playoff.

In a statement shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Troost-Ekong wrote: “Issue RESOLVED. Outstanding financials cleared and on ground. Team is UNITED and focussed as before on representing NIGERIA with our maximum for the games ahead! 🇳🇬 @NGSuperEagles”

The resolution comes just days before Nigeria’s crucial World Cup qualifying playoff against Gabon. The team had skipped a scheduled training session earlier in the week, citing delays in receiving allowances and bonuses owed by the Nigeria Football Federation. Troost-Ekong emphasized that the players were not demanding any special bonuses, but simply seeking the fulfillment of existing financial commitments.

With the matter now settled, the Super Eagles have resumed full preparations for Thursday’s semi-final clash, aiming to secure a spot in the final round of qualifiers and ultimately represent Africa on the global stage.
