Chelsea Held to Another Draw as Bournemouth Steals a Point at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea’s Premier League campaign ended 2025 on a frustrating note after the Blues were held to a 2–2 draw by AFC Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening. The result continued a troubling trend for the west London club, as Chelsea dropped more points at home and extended their winless league run.
The match, which produced four goals and plenty of talking points, encapsulated both the attacking promise and defensive fragilities that have recently defined Chelsea’s season. After a blistering start from the visitors, Chelsea fought back impressively only to be pegged back again — leaving fans uneasy as the Blues slide further from genuine title contention.
Bournemouth Strike First
Just six minutes into the game, Bournemouth stunned Stamford Bridge when David Brooks scrambled home from close range following a long throw-in that caught Chelsea’s defence unprepared. It was a dream start for the Cherries, who rarely threaten the upper end of the table but made the most of their early opportunity.
Chelsea responded with character. A VAR review awarded them a penalty when Estêvão was brought down in the box, and Cole Palmer coolly converted from the spot in the 15th minute to level the score. Just eight minutes later, Chelsea took the lead courtesy of an incisive strike by Enzo Fernández — a well-placed finish into the top corner that brought Stamford Bridge to life.
Bournemouth’s Resilience
Chelsea’s lead lasted barely four minutes. Bournemouth capitalised again on their set-piece threat, with Justin Kluivert equalising after another long delivery into the penalty area. The visitors then sat deeper, inviting Chelsea onto them as the Blues dominated possession for the remainder of the match.
Despite controlling much of the second half and creating several chances, Chelsea couldn’t find a decisive winner. Boos greeted the final whistle as Stamford Bridge witnessed yet another point dropped, much to the frustration of supporters who had briefly dared to think three points might be on the cards.
