Ex Chelsea Coach Maurizio Sarri Undergoes Surgery for a heart condition

Maurizio Sarri, the former Chelsea manager, has undergone successful heart surgery after being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, a heart rhythm disorder. The 66-year-old Lazio coach had a catheter ablation operation at the Tor Vergata Policlinic in Rome, performed by Professor Andrea Natale, an international expert in treating this condition. Sarri is expected to resume his duties with Lazio within the next few days, with assistant coach Marco Ianni filling in for him in the meantime.

Atrial fibrillation is a condition that causes an irregular and often rapid heart rate, which can lead to symptoms like fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath. It's great to hear that the procedure was successful, and Sarri is on the road to recovery.

Sarri, a veteran of Italian football, has had an illustrious career, winning the Europa League with Chelsea in 2019 and the Serie A title with Juventus in 2020. He returned to Lazio in June 2025 after a 15-month sabbatical and is currently leading the team in eighth place in Serie A.
