Nigerian skit maker and comedian Sydney Talker has publicly congratulated his colleague Carter Efe for breaking new ground in the world of online streaming, while urging other content creators who feel stuck or frustrated in the saturated skit‑making industry to consider exploring live streaming as a viable career path. At the same time, Sydney reaffirmed his commitment to the craft that launched his own career, promising never to quit creating comedy skits.

In a heartfelt post on social media, Sydney Talker celebrated Carter Efe’s remarkable achievement on the Twitch platform. Carter Efe, whose real name is Odahohwo Joseph Efe, recently set a record by becoming the most‑followed Nigerian streamer on Twitch, surpassing notable peers after a livestream session that featured Nigerian music superstar Davido. That session drew massive attention online, boosting his follower count past the 500,000 mark — a milestone that has been hailed as historic for African creators on the platform.

Sydney’s message to Carter wasn’t just congratulatory — it was personal. He admitted that early on, he had discouraged Carter from pursuing streaming as a career. In his words, he told Carter to focus on what he knew best — comedy. But Carter followed his instinct, and Sydney proudly acknowledged that being proven wrong was a good thing because it showed Carter’s drive and creativity.

“Congratulations to my brother @carterefe. Two days ago you made history. I’m so proud of you… Funny how I was one of the people who discouraged you from streaming. But in the end, you spit in my face, which makes me happy because it proves one thing: you are truly a creator who follows his instincts,” Sydney wrote.

Sydney also used the moment to speak directly to skit makers who may feel burnt out, unfulfilled, or stuck in a cycle of low engagement and limited monetisation. He described the traditional skit‑making space as overly saturated, with many creators struggling with depression and financial instability. To those struggling, he advised exploring streaming platforms like Twitch where there is still plenty of opportunity before saturation hits in 2026.

“For those of you in skit making who are depressed and forced to live fake lives, why not try out streaming? It might just work for you. If Carter can, then you can do it too,” Sydney wrote, encouraging others to be open to new avenues of content creation.
