Caicedo’s Late Goal Secures Chelsea a Vital 1-0 Champions League Win Over Pafos

Last night (21 January 2026), Chelsea played a UEFA Champions League group stage match at Stamford Bridge against Pafos FC. In a game that proved tougher than many expected, Chelsea won 1-0 thanks to a late header from Moisés Caicedo in the 78th minute.
Chelsea dominated possession throughout much of the game and created plenty of chances — but struggled to break down Pafos’s disciplined defence. It took until late in the second half for Caicedo, one of Chelsea’s most influential midfielders, to find the breakthrough and secure all three points for the Blues.

The narrow scoreline ended a night of pressure for Chelsea, but it ultimately keeps the club in contention for a top-eight finish in the Champions League league phase — which is crucial for automatic qualification to the knockout rounds.

Despite creating 21 total shot attempts compared to Pafos’s four, and enjoying more than 70 % possession, Chelsea’s finishing was frustratingly wasteful at times. However, the latest victory gives them a psychological lift and keeps their European hopes alive as the group stage nears its conclusion.
