Luca Gotti will reportedly take on the role as assistant coach to Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.
The 50-year-old Italian will be brought on as Sarri’s No.2, but club legend Gianfranco Zola will also be appointed to the backroom staff.
Sky Italia claim Gotti has been drafted in after Giovanni Martusciello turned down the chance to join Sarri in London.
Martusciello will remain in Italy at Empoli working under Luciano Spalletti, while Gotti is set to exit Italy for the first time in his coaching career and end a seven-year working relationship with Roberto Donadoni.
Gotti has worked alongside Donadoni since 2011, with the pair most recently taking charge at Bologna.
Chelsea appointed Sarri as head coach on Saturday after sacking Antonio Conte this week.
