Attacker will miss three crucial Premier League games in August in hope he can earn pardon from National Service.

SON HEUNG-MIN has apologised for having to leave Tottenham to play for South Korea in the forthcoming Asian Games.

The striker, 26, is available for the Spurs' Premier League opener at Newcastle on Saturday week.

But he will then jet off to Indonesia to play for his country at the tournament, which runs from
August 14 to September 1.

That rules him out of clashes with Fulham, Manchester United and Watford.

He said: “Spurs is my team and I feel sorry to be leaving my team-mates. But I am playing for my country and that’s also important.”

Son and Spurs are hoping if South Korea win gold in Jakarta then he may be given a special government pardon from a 21- month stint of National Service.

Son said: “We can talk about this afterwards.

“I am going there to win. I don’t travel there for nothing.”

Meanwhile, fellow Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente insists he is staying at the club.
