Luka Modric beat former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to the UEFA Player of the Year award by almost 100 points.
The Croatian had a stand out year for Real as he played a key part in their strong midfield with Casemiro and Toni Kroos which won the Champions League for a third successive season.
The vote saw the 80 coaches of the teams in last season's Champions League and Europa League group stages along with 55 journalists, who were picked by the European Sports Media group pick their best three players.
Modric cruised to the gong with 313 points, 90 more than second placed Ronaldo and 179 more than Salah.
