UEFA suspends Kondogbia for two matches for deliberate yellow card

Geoffrey Kondogbia has been given a two-match suspension by UEFA for deliberately picking up a yellow card during Valencia's first leg win over Celtic in the Europa League.

Marcelino's side were winning 2-0 at Celtic Park when the French midfielder was booked for time wasting, meaning he would miss the return leg at the Mestalla.

"A footballer will be suspension for two competition matches or a specified period for clearly receiving a yellow or red card on purpose," reads article 15.C of UEFA's disciplinary code.

Valencia have already stated that they will appeal the suspension as they look to secure a place in next season's Champions League by winning the tournament.
