Rodri has completed €70m Man City move on a 5-year contract.

The 23-year-old joins on a five-year deal from Atletico Madrid and follows Angelino to become Pep Guardiola’s second signing of the summer.

A defensively minded midfielder who is most at home sitting in front of the back four, Rodri has earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting prospects.

And with the deal complete, he revealed his admiration for a club he believes is the perfect place to continue his development.

Born Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante, City’s newest recruit supported Atleti as a boy and progressed through the academy ranks before departing in 2013 to complete his youth development at Villarreal.

He helped Atleti lift the 2018 UEFA Super Cup with a 4-2 victory over Real Madrid and went on to play 47 times, scoring three goals as his home-town club finished second in La Liga.

At international level, he has won six caps for Spain and was part of the U19 squad which won the 2015 European Championships, where he was named in the team of the tournament.
