OFFICIAL: Celta Vigo sack Fran Escriba

Celta Vigo have announced their decision to part company with head coach Fran Escriba, with the 1-0 defeat at home to Getafe on Sunday meaning that the Galicians have picked up just eight points from their opening 12 games in LaLiga Santander.
Following a transfer window in which Celta were able to bring Denis Suarez, Santi Mina and Rafinha Alcantara back to the club, the hope was that they would kick on in the 2019/20 campaign but that simply has not been the case.

As part of Celta's announcement on Sunday night, they published a statement as they made the news public, as well as thanking Escriba and his team for their work since taking charge in March 2019.

"Fran Escriba and his coaching team will not continue on the bench at RC Celta," the club's statement read.

"The club wishes to convey its sincere thanks both to the Valencian coach and his team for their work, professionalism and effort demonstrated during their time at RC Celta.

"The RC Celta family will always remember staying up last season as part of the 'A Nosa Reconquista' campaign.

"RC Celta wishes Fran Escriba and his assistants the greatest success in the future, both professionally and personally."
