Niko Kovac 'tells Arsenal chiefs he wants job' and will attend West Ham clash

Ex-Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac will reportedly watch Arsenal in action against West Ham on Monday night and is interested in becoming Unai Emery's permanent replacement in north London.

Emery was sacked earlier this month following a dreadful run of form, with Freddie Ljungberg stepping in on an interim basis, but the Swede has yet to impress having failed to win in either of his opening two games.

This has led to more urgency from the Arsenal board in the search to find their next long-term manager, and according to Goal Kovac believes he is the right man for the job.

The 48-year-old, who was sacked from Bayern Munich last month, was spotted at Goodison Park at the weekend watching Everton's win against Chelsea , leading to speculation he could be set to take over there, but when asked about the rumours he insisted he was only there as an interested onlooker while taking a break from management.

He appears far more interested in the potential of taking over at Arsenal, and his representatives have allegedly been in contact with the Gunners to inform them of their client's position.

Kovac has also managed Croatia and Eintracht Frankfurt, and was appointed Bayern boss in 2018.

He won the Bundesliga and the German Cup in his first season, but got off to a disastrous start to the current campaign, and lost his job following a humiliating 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.
