Sane has resumed training with Us - Man City boss confirms

German winger Leroy Sane joined Manchester City from Schalke in 2016 for a reported £37million. He built on a promising first season by winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 2017/18 as City won the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola hinted last week that Sane should be ready to play again in two to three weeks, which means he is unlikely to be ready for Sunday’s home game with West Ham but has a real chance of being involved against Leicester, a fortnight on Saturday.

The doubts over Sterling have accentuated the possibility of Sane being a starter, although Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva are also in contention for the left-sided spot, if Guardiola goes for a conventional formation.

City will be cautious about being too hasty – they brought Aymeric Laporte back five days before his scheduled return, when he played 75 minutes at Sheffield United, and he has not been in the squad since.
