Center for Sports Studies (CIES) Football Observatory recently released their list of the most expensive footballers in the world and here we take a look at who tops the charts when it comes to youngsters.

5. Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea/England): €72.3 Million

Hailed as the next great hope for both club and country, Callum Hudson-Odoi has shown glimpses of his talent so far, and would have shown more of it if not suffering from injuries in his nascent career.


The 19-year-old who made his debut for Chelsea in 2017, has so far made 53 appearances for the club and so impressive has he been that he was a subject of multiple bids from Bayern Munich in 2019..


4. Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid/Brazil): €73.9 Million

Vinícius Júnior has gradually established himself as a key member of the first XI at Real Madrid under manager, Zinedine Zidane. The Brazilian at just 19, has already made 59 appearances for the Los Blancos, netting eight goals so far.


Criticised for his lack of end product by many during his first season, he has improved gradually and will no doubt go on to become one of the best of his generation in the near future.


3. Rodrygo Goes (Real Madrid/Brazil): €88.9 Million

Another Brazilian youngster snapped up by Real Madrid as they plan for the future, Rodrygo Goes was signed for 40million and made an instant impact, becoming the second youngest ever player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League.


The 19-year-old along with Vinícius is being touted as the future of Brazil and Madrid and has already netted seven goals in just 18 appearances.


2. Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund/Norway): €101.0 Million

The latest teenage sensation to emerge in the sport, Erling Haaland has taken the world by storm for his performances first for RB Salzburg and then Borussia Dortmund. The striker decided to move to Germany despite interest from a number of top clubs and he has been a revelation for them, netting 12 goals in just 11 games so far.

England's next great hope, Jadon Sancho has quickly made himself an indispensable player for both club and country over the past two seasons - performing in such a manner that he has reached double figures in both goals and assists over the past two years.. 


Sancho has been linked with the likes of LiverpoolManchester United and Chelsea - though it will take a staggering transfer fee for that too happen.
