Chelsea fans have been celebrating since the club announced the transfer of Timo Werner.


It's been confirmed that the 24 years old will move to Stamford Bridge next summer. Chelsea have agreed a fee of £53m with RB Leipzig.

Meanwhile, fans were left stunned after the West London side beat Liverpool to the deal of the German international.


Liverpool were leading the race to sign the forward as Jurgen Klopp has been a long time admirer, but later pulled out of the deal.

Apparently, Chelsea's experience defender Antiono Rudiger has revealed the key role he played in the transfer.

'I did speak to him before because we have known each other for a long time,' Rudiger told Chelsea's official website.

'We spoke a lot during the lockdown and he told me he was interested in coming to England. Of course then I did my bit, what I had to do.'

Just so you know, Timo Werner and Rudiger played together in the 2014 Confederation cup in Brazil for Germany under Joachim Low.

Timo Werner was the top scorer of the tournament as Germany won the cup and also went ahead to win the World Cup in Brazil, 2014.

Rudiger added: 'I would say he's a quiet, humble guy, always ready to do better.

'I hope he adapts quickly when he comes because as we all know this competition is different than others.'

Timo Werner currently second on the league scorers chat 26 goals so far as RB Leipzig are third with 63 points.

The Germany outfit have qualified for the quarter final of the UEFA Champions League after two legs win against Tottenham before the coronavirus pandemic.

Rudiger continued: 'Like everyone, I'm very excited that he's chosen Chelsea and I'm looking forward to working with him.

'I've known him since he was 17 and he did very good in the past few years. He can be very important for us.'
