Arsenal fans were excited with their captain following his speech during an interview after he lifted the Community Shield yesterday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can to the rescue as he led the team to glory in game against Liverpool at Wembley.

The Gunners had taken the lead in the 12th minutes from a world class strike from the former Borussia Dortmund star.

Takumi Minamino came from the bench to slot home the equaliser as the Reds hoped to snatch a late victory.

But Arsenal kept their shape and forced the game to penalty, which saw Rhian Brewster missed the only penalty for Liverpool.

Speaking after the game, Aubameyang expressed his delight of winning another trophy for the second time in the month of August.

He also hinted on a contract renewal coming up in next few days.

He told BT Sport when informed that all of the club’s supporters are waiting on an update: “Yeah I know. We're going to see in these [coming] days. Today we take the trophy.”

The 31 years old has one year left on his current Arsenal contract. The Gunners are yet to agree terms with their captain but appears he's happy to remain with the club.

Arsenal lifted the Shield in an empty stadium after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sent Alisson Becker the wrong way.

He added: “We are improving and there's still work to do but it's a really happy and exciting time to be an Arsenal player.”
