Liverpool have been struggling for form since the season ended last month.

The Reds played their pre season friendlies in Austria against RB Leipzig and were held to a draw after Rhian Brewster scored twice after Liverpool were trailing by two goals.

The Reds came into the Community Shield yesterday as Premier League Champions while their opponents in Arsenal were winners of the FA Cup.

Recall that Liverpool finished the 2019-20 season 43 points ahead of the Gunners who finished in eight position.

Jurgen Klopp side fell behind after a curler from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 12th minutes.

The Reds got back in the game after Takumi Minamino came from the bench to score the equaliser.

Meanwhile, Rhian Brewster's decisive miss cost Liverpool at the end of the penalty shoot out.

Liverpool were defeated by Arsenal in the Community Shield via penalties.

Jurgen Klopp has taken the blame to name the 20 years old among the penalty takers.

“This will not harm Rhian,” said Klopp. “If anyone is to blame, it is me. I wanted him in the position because he is a real finisher and confident. Today, not. That happens in life and in football."

Recall that 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Championship side, Swansea City.

He played 22 league games and scored 21 times for Swansea City last season.

Brewster guided England to win the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India where he was awarded the Golden Boot award.

Klopp added: “We all have to learn and prove we can deal with defeats. If he would have scored and someone else missed, it is the same theme. There are bigger reasons than that. Missing it like this is possible. I have never seen him miss one but it happens.”
