Manchester United suffered their heaviest defeat at home in the club's history on Sunday. Jose Mourinho returned to Old Trafford since he was sacked as manager in 2018 but this time as manager of Tottenham Hotspur. It was a game that may pundits had predicted a high scoreline at the end of 90 minutes and had given Manchester United the advantage due to their squad depth.
Ole Gunners side took the lead under two minutes after Davison Sanches brought down Anthony Martial in the box.
Bruno Fernandes stepped up and converted to sent Hugo Lloris the wrong way.
But Spurs responded immediately in the fourth minute when Ndombele captialised in a scrambling ball in Manchester United box as Bailly and Maguire failed to clear their lines.
Heung Mi Son raced to a quick free-kick by Harry Kane to slot home the second.
The controversial moment came when Anthony Martial was issued a straight red card in the first half after putting his hands to the face of Erik Lamela.
Jose Mourinho side went ahead to pounce on United with two more goals from Heung Mi Son who also assisted Harry Kane in the first half.
Second half saw Serge Aurier and Harry Kane score a penalty.
According to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it's been the most embarrassing day for him as a manager.
"It's my second language so it's very difficult to put it into words," he told BBC Radio 5 Live. "It's a horrible feeling, the worst day I've had as a Manchester United manager and player.
"I've been part of big defeats before and we've bounced back so we've just got to let the boys go away on international duty, find their mojo themselves and the others that are going to stay here, we've got to help them."
The Norwagian manager believes his side needs to put the defeat behind them and look forward to the next game.
He said:"After a result like this you need to clear your mind and head and look forward.
"Sometimes you make mistakes, that's part of life and we made too many mistakes in one game of football and that shows in the result against a very good football team. They are a team full of quality and we got punished almost every time we made a mistake."
It's understood that Manchester United will have a break this weekend due to the international break.
But Solskjaer stated that he's responsible for his side poor run of games.
He added: "If it's a different shape, mentality, I don't know, but it will be different. We can't accept performances like this. I hold my hands up, I'm in charge and I'm responsible for this."
