Arsenal poor form continued last night in the Premier League. The Gunners hosted Southampton at the Emirates stadium but were only able to salvage a draw at the end of 90 minutes.
Mikel Arteta had revealed the consequences of his side fail to turn their season around given their position on the league.

It was Southampton that went ahead with former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott with a fine goal after he chipped the on rushing Bernd Leno.

The ur Arsenal came back with an equaliser after Bukayo Saka wiggled his way pass three players on the left side and found Eddie Nketiah who slotted a pass to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score.

It was Aubameyang third goal of the season as the Gabon international has been struggling for goals.

Meanwhile, Arsenal were reduced to ten men after referee Paul Tierney sent off Gabriel Magalhães for a second yellow after he pulled down Theo Walcott who was clear on goal.

This happens to be the second week the Gunners will finish a game with ten men after Granit Xhaka was sent off last week.

After the game, Mikel Arteta admitted the goal would build Aubameyang confidence.

“Hopefully it's going to change everything dramatically and he's going to score in every game because this is what we need at the moment,” Arteta told the media as captured by Arsenal's website.

“We need the points and in order to do that, we need to score many more goals and be more efficient when we have the chances. I think it's going to make him really good.

“I don't have to see it, I'm sure that it's going to take a lot of pressure off him and it's going to release him as well.”

The draw means the Gunners remain in 15th position in the league.

Mikel went ahead to praise his team for their performance despite being reduced to ten men with 30 minutes left to play.

“Considering the fact that we played 35 minutes with 10 men, we have to take the point because we showed some resilience and character to hang in there for so long against a really dangerous team,” he continued.

“But at the same time we're disappointed because we came back after conceding the goal, we showed how much we wanted it, created some situations and at half time we corrected a few things."

Arsenal travel to Goodison Park to face Everton this weekend. Carlo Ancelotti thrashed Leicester City 2-0 last night at the King Power Stadium.

He added: “We came back really strong in the game, scored a goal and then when we had the best moments, we shot ourselves in the foot. It obviously made it really hard.”
