Man City missed our "best striker" Aguero against Man Utd, says Guardiola

Manchester United sealed their qualification into the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League during the mid week. It was a 3-0 win against on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola returned to the league where they have been struggling for goals as they face their rival, Manchester United. It was an away trip to Old Trafford on Saturday.


The former Barcelona boss surprised fans when he opted to leave out his talisman Sergio Aguero from the match day sqaud. The Argentine didn't even make the bench. 

Although, Guardiola had earlier stated prior to the game that Aguero will not be rushed back into the team.

Aguero has not play after he picked up an injury in the 5-0 win over Burnley on June 22. 

Just so you know, the forward made only five appearances this season.

Although, Aguero played final minutes in the game against Marseille in mid week which he scored the third goal for Manchester City. 

Going into the Manchester derby, Pep Guardiola fielded Gabriel Jesus who was supported by Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne in the attack. 

After the game, Pep Guardiola revealed that his team missed Sergio Aguero attacking threat. 

“We miss Sergio but for the last six months, not just today, he was injured a lot of times,” Guardiola said. 

He revealed the forward wll not be rushed back following after he missed a lot of games last season due to injuries. 

He said: “One step at a time, he still isn't fit. 

"Other players are working hard. Today he had a problem in his stomach and couldn't make a session. He was at home." 

Guardiola went ahead to describe his goal machine, Aguero as "the new striker in Manchester city's history". 

According to Guardiola: “Of course, we miss Sergio, he is the best striker in Manchester City’s history. 

“In the next short time, we will go without him and I am sure when he is fit, he will be back.”
