The game which went down last night saw Carlo Ancelotti side emerged victorious. It was the former AC Milan manager, Ancelotti who faced his former club.

Chelsea have displayed some impressive results recently as their summer signings seems to have clicked and developed a good chemistry.

But Frank Lampard side suffered a hiccup in their Premier League campaign.

The West London side looked confident as they grew into the game until the moment came for Everton after Mendy challenged Calvert-Lewin in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

Gylfi Sigurdsson stepped up and converted the spot kick in the 22 minutes, which they held on to the victory at the end.

After the game, Frank Lampard revealed the reason he left out Christian Pulisic from the game.

The American wasn't named in the squad, with the manager insisting he didn't want to risk the player who recently recovered from an injury.

Just so you know, Pulisic didn't start the season with Chelsea, he suffered an hamstring injury last season in the FA Cup final.

He missed the first two months of the season but the manager admitted the player will not be rushed as he needs to be properly managed.

"Christian has a bit of awareness in his hamstring," Lampard said to reporters. "He’s been training through the week but he felt some awareness and we simply can’t risk him."

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also without Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi due to injuries.

He added: "We have seen two wingers go down recently, Ziyech last week and Callum in training. We are coming up to a busy period in the season. As we keep saying, players are getting a lot of muscle injuries.

"Christian wasn’t quite ready, but hopefully for Tuesday night, we will find out next week."
