Barcelona striker Memphis Depay has injured the biceps femoris in his left hamstring, set for spells on the sidelines

Barcelona have been dealt a serious injury blow after they confirmed that Memphis Depay has injured the biceps femoris in his left hamstring. 

If you recall that Barcelona were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League competition following their 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich. 

Xavi Hernandez side finished third in their Group, which meant Benfica took the second position following their own victory against Dynamo Kyiv. 

Meanwhile, the Dutch striker has is out of action for few weeks. Memphis started the game and played all 90 minutes against the Bavarians on Wednesday night. 

Memphis has played 20 games, always as a starter, scoring eight goals, all in the domestic championship.

Meanwhile, Xavi Hernandez is also expected to be without Jordi Alba who was forced off after he injured his right hamstring. He was replaced by Oscar Mingueza in the 31st minutes of the 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

Alba has played 16 games this season, 11 in la Liga and five in the Champions League, giving no fewer than five assists.
