Europa League: Leicester City have been knocked out after their 3-2 defeat to Napoli (Highlights) 2021-2022

Leicester were dumped into the Europa Conference League wasteland by Napoli

Brendan Rodgers' side lost 3-2 at the Diego Maradona stadium on Thursday night.

Brendan Roger's men needed only a draw against an under-strength Serie A side to progress to the knockout stages of the Europa League. 

Winger Adam Ounas gave Napoli an early lead, firing low across Kasper Schmeichel to make it 1-0 after four minutes. 

Napoli doubled their lead after Macedonian star Eljif Elmas tapped home a clever pass from Andrea Petagna. 

But the Foxes responded with two goals just before half-time. First, Foxes centre half Jonny Evans pulled one back from a James Maddison set piece in the 27 minutes.

In the 33rd minutes, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall equalised with a lovely left-footed volley outside the box. It was the Leicestershire-born Leicester academy product's first ever senior goal for the club.

But Leicester City went behind again after they allowed Elmas grab his brace in the 53rd minutes of the game. This came after  poor defending saw Elmas score his second of the game to make it 3-2.
