The Dutch boss has transformed the Manchester United attack since he arrived from Ajax this season.
37-year-old Manchester United talisman has been sitting on the bench since the start of the 2022-23 Premier League season.
If you remember that Ronaldo was, speculated to leave the club to play Champions League football during the transfer window.
Ronaldo is yet to start a Premier League game so far, starting all six Manchester United games from the bench.
Meanwhile, Erik Den Hag has cited the Portuguese international's fitness levels after he missed the pre-season reason he's been on the bench. "As we said, Ronaldo is here. And, as we all know, he didn't have a pre-season. You cannot miss pre-season, Erik Den Hag said.
The former Ajax boss also hinted that the style of play of Manchester United have changed from last season.
He said: "It's a base. Especially with the game we play, the way we want to play. We don't play in the same way we did last year, there is no comparison."
The Manchester United manager has claimed that his style of football requires a lot of movement with and without the ball, as well as tenacity.
Ronaldo has been faulted for his inability to press high up the pitch which has seen Erik Den Hag prefer a youthful attacking side of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga.
The former Ajax boss has however not ruled out the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo being more involved as the season progresses.
Erik Den Hag added: "This demands cooperation and it demands certain positioning in - and out - of possession. The other thing is his fitness."
"But it's still early in the season. We have a squad. We have more than 11 players - and that's what you're seeing now."
Manchester United will hope to record frit third victory in a row when they face in form Arsenal at the Old Trafford stadium on Sunday evening. The kick off is 4:30pm GMT.
