Manchester United suffered defeat in their opening group game in the Europa League.
The Red Devils winning steak came to an end after their 1-0 loss at home against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
Baris Mendes scored the only penalty to give the Spanish side th three points as Real Sociedad earned their first win over an English side in European competition at the seventh time.
In the first half, Cristiano Ronaldo goal was ruled out for offside by the VAR.
Prior to the goal, Real Sociedad had barely threatened United's goal up until the penalty incident.
This came after David Silva's shot that hit Lisandro Martinez's thigh before deflecting onto his hand.
The controversial penalty decision in the 59 minutes saw Brais Mendez give the visitors the lead.
