Arsenal held a moment of silence at the start of the second half of their Europa League match vs. Zurich following Queen Elizabeth II’s death on Thursday night.

The Gunners kick off their campaign in the Europa League with 2-1 win over the Swiss side, Zurich away from home.

19 years old Brazilian, Marquinhos was handed his debut by Mikel Arteta for the Gunners.

Recall that Arsenal signed the winger for fee in region of £3m from Brazilian side, Sao Paulo this summer.

Marquinhos scored the opening goal from a counter attack when he connected to cross from Eddie Nketiah.

Arsenal conceded a penalty after Nketiah was judged to have fouled a Zurich player in the box.

Eddie Nketiah made amends for his error to score what happens to be the winner with a header after Marquinhos teed up a cross into the box in the second half.

Before the second half kick off, the sad death of Queen Elizabeth II was confirmed dead and the players were seen holding a minute silence.

Both teams gathered at the center of the pitch to honour the British monarch who passed away from September 8th 2022 at age 96.

It's been gathered that Prince Charles has been proclaimed King of England immediately after the death of his Mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
