Liverpool's Portugal forward Diogo Jota has been ruled out of the World Cup with a calf injury.

The Portugal international is expected to be out for several weeks after he sustained an injury during Liverpool's clash with Manchester City.

If you recall that Jurgen Klopp's men recorded 1-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday evening.
The Reds handed Pep Guardiola and his team their first defeat of the season after Mohamed Salah capitalised on Joao Cancelo error to score the only goal

Diogo Jota has reportedly suffered "serious injury in the calf muscle," Liverpool's manager Jurgen Klopp confirms.

Although, the former Wolverhampton forward doesn't require a surgery but will be out for some time.

The injury is the second time that Jota will be out this term. He missed the opening weeks of the campaign due to a hamstring complaint.

Meanwhile, Jota shared a black and white images of himself being carried from the pitch in stoppage time of the 1-0 win at Anfield.

He captioned: "After such a good night at Anfield mine ended in the worst way ! In the last minute one of my dreams collapsed 💔 I will be one more supporting from the outside, club and country, and fighting to be back as soon as possible 🙏 You'll Never Walk Alone".

Jota will miss Liverpool’s remaining eight fixtures prior to the international break in November, as well as his Portugal participation in 2022 World Cup in Qatar this year.
