Manchester United have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has been axed from the team ahead of their weekend Premier League game. 

The Red Devils will travel to face Chelsea in their Premier League clash on Saturday evening. 

The 37-year-old is expected to miss the game according to the official statement from the club. 

“Cristiano will not be part of the Man United team for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea. Rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture, "the statement reads.

If you recall that Cristiano Ronaldo was seen walking into the tunnel before full time against Tottenham Hotspur in Wednesday night.

Ronaldo didn't play any part in Manchester United's 2-0 win over Spurs as he sat down on the bench.

The former Juventus and Real Madrid player hasn't been enjoying game time under Erik Den Hag, since the former Ajax boss took charge at Old Trafford stadium this season.

Erik Den Hag said that he will deal with th situation after the game last night at Old Trafford stadium.
