The 35-year-old was intilally included in Coach Didier Deschamps squad for France heading into the FIFA competition.
But Karim Benzema was dealt blow after he suffered an injury during training which he couldn't recover in time for the competition.
Reportminds Blog understands that Benzema had been suffering from a hamstring injury in recent weeks.
The French man missed the last few games for Real Madrid before the World Cup break.
It appears that Karim Benzema sustained a thigh injury in training with Les Bleus on Saturday evening.
Following a medical examinations, it was agreed that Benzema will play no part in the tournament. He is expected to travel back to Spain where he will continue to recover ahead of second half of the season.
Meanwhile the French international has taken to his social media space to express his disappointment, he captioned:
"In my life I never give up but tonight I have to think about the team like I always do so the reason tells me to leave my place to someone who can help our team to make a great World Cup. Thank you for all your messages of support."
