Croatian international, Josko Gvardiol was spotted wearing a face mask during their Sunday game against Canada.
Luka Modric guided his team to seal an emphatic win over the north American side in their second group stage match.
Recall that Croatia who were finalist in the 2018 edition played a goalless draw in their opening game against Belgium.
Fans were surprised to see Josko Gvardiol wearing a protective mask during their 4-1 thumping of Canada.
It's been gathered that the defender has been carrying a face injury he sustained few months ago.
Prior to the game kick off, Gvardiol was sporting two black eyes when he was on the bench for Croatia’s World Cup warm-up match
Why is Josko Gvardiol wearing a mask?
Gvardiol was taken to hospital on November 10, during Leipzig’s 3-1 Bundesliga win over Freiburg.
He collided with team-mate Willi Orban in the 17th minute and injured his face.
Gvardiol wasn’t actually supposed to start the game but Abdou Diallo injured his knee in the warm-up.
Unfortunately for Gvardiol, he injured his face, with a nose and eye problem and left the pitch with a bloody nose.
