Mohammed Kudus scored twice in a pulsating game to give Ghana their first World Cup Group H victory.
After Jordan Ayew's superbly delivered left-hand cross, Kudus scored with a precise glancing header to make it 2-0 in the 34 minutes.
Around the hour mark, Cho Gue Song scored two quick headers to level the score for South Korea.
In the 68th minute, Kudus added his second goal of the game with a well-taken finish to make it 3-2.
Ghana came away from the Education City Stadium with all three points, keeping their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive, and Salisu was forced to clear off the line late on.
With their first tournament victory, Ghana is in charge of their own destiny in terms of qualifying for the knockout stages going into Friday's final match against Uruguay.
South Korea must defeat Portugal in their final group match on Friday in order to qualify for the knockout stages.
