The 37-year-old is expected to lead his team in their opening game against the Black Stars of Ghana on Thursday.
Recall that Ronaldo Portugal’s international friendly 4-0 win over Nigeria on Thursday due to stomach bug.
But the Manchester United star is expected to be fit their campaign in Qatar.
Portugal coach Fernando Santos believes that Ronaldo has the hunger to succeed and perform at the top level.
“Cristiano, like all of the players I have called up, comes with a huge hunger to show his ability and to make Portugal the world champion,” Santos said, as quoted by the Mirror.
“Is Ronaldo hungrier? Let’s wait and see. He has always been hungry – that is why he has stayed at the top of the game for so long.
“I’m not interested in what he was like a month ago. He has played four games for Manchester United since then.”
Ronaldo needs to score three goals to surpass Portugal legend Eusebio, who scored nine goals in the nation’s semi-final run at the 1966 finals.
