Messi recreates iconic Maradona World Cup celebration photo
The FIFA World Cup 2022 victory by Argentina continues to elicit the most comments. The South American nation upset the 2018 World Cup champions, France, to win their third World Cup.
Argentina last won the world cup in Mexico 1986, which was the last time this happened. They were led to victory that year by legendary athlete Diego Armando Maradona. Due only to the valiant efforts of the late football legend, Argentina won the championship.
Maradona was lifted into the air by one of his teammates while holding the trophy out with his right palms. As they streamed into the stadium, the audience erupted in cheers.
The 2022 World Cup was won by Messi's country, just like it was by Maradona, and he has single-handedly brought his country joy.
Similar to Maradona, Messi has single-handedly made his nation happy by leading them to victory in the 2022 World Cup. In a widely circulated picture, Messi is seen imitating Maradona's famous World Cup victory celebration from 1986.
The 35-year-old was named player of the tournament in Qatar following his performances for the Albiceleste winning the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi has revealed that he doesn't have any plan to retire from the national team.
It was earlier speculated that he was playing his final world cup but after last night he was quoted saying he would continue to play for the Argentine national team.
